Home
Why It Matters
Housing is more than shelter; it’s the foundation for security, stability, and economic growth. By connecting governments, private sector expertise, and citizens, this campaign transforms policy into action and homes into reality.
Problem Statement
Despite well-intentioned federal housing policies, challenges remain:
- Limited translation of policies into actionable programs at state and local levels
- Fragmented housing initiatives and inefficient resource allocation
- Lack of knowledge or tools among citizens to navigate homeownership
The National Homeownership and Housing Development Campaign addresses these gaps through seminars, workshops, advocacy, policy support, and empowerment programs, ensuring governments can implement housing solutions effectively while citizens gain the skills and resources to achieve homeownership.
Strategic Approach
The campaign adopts a multi-dimensional strategy that combines policy research, policy development, advocacy, capacity building, and strategic support in selected states. Through nationwide forums, technical workshops, and public sensitization seminars, CHRHDI will help bridge the gap between policy intent and on-ground results
Key Elements of the Approach include:
- Organising State and Regional Campaigns that bring housing stakeholders, policy makers, and ordinary Nigerians on a single platform.
- Conducting State Housing Policy Audits to assess readiness and identify reform priorities
- Championing and driving the establishment of State Housing Reform Offices (SHROs) aligned with housing delivery objectives.
- Promoting Innovative Financing Models that leverage public-private partnerships and cooperative housing systems.
- Launching Public Education and Media Campaigns to deepen citizen awareness and participation in homeownership opportunities.
- Improved synergy among housing institutions and policy actors across all levels of government.
- Increased access to affordable homeownership and housing finance mechanisms.
- Strengthened institutional capacity for effective housing governance and urban management.
- Greater public awareness of government housing initiatives and citizen participation in sustainable housing solutions.
- A measurable reduction in the national housing deficit through coordinated reforms and innovative housing delivery models.
The Renewed Hope National Homeownership and Housing Development Campaign is a collaborative platform that brings together government agencies, financial institutions, developers, civil society organisations, and international partners committed to advancing housing reform and development innovation in Nigeria. CHRHDI invites partnerships that strengthen research, policy design, financing, and implementation capacity — ensuring that the vision to bridge Nigeria’s housing deficit and transform its urban landscape translates into tangible outcomes for millions of Nigerians.
